Co-Bridges: Pair-wise Visual Connection and Comparison for Multi-item Data Streams

نویسندگان

چکیده

In various domains, there are abundant streams or sequences of multi-item data kinds, e.g. news and social media texts, genes sports events, etc. Comparison is an important general task in analysis. For comparing involving multiple items (e.g., words actors action types sequences, visited places itineraries, etc.), we propose Co-Bridges, a visual design connection comparison techniques that reveal similarities differences between two streams. Co-Bridges use river bridge metaphors, where sides represent streams, bridges connect temporally sequentially aligned segments Commonalities these terms involvement shown on the bridges. Interactive query tools support selection particular stream subsets for focused exploration. The visualization supports both qualitative (common distinct items) quantitative (stream volume, amount item involvement) comparisons. We further Comparison-of-Comparisons, which more corresponding to different selections juxtaposed. test applicability including text event sequences. perform evaluation users' capability understand Co-Bridges. results confirm effective supporting pair-wise comparisons wide range applications.

Discovering Pair-wise Synergies in Microarray Data

Informative gene selection can have important implications for the improvement of cancer diagnosis and the identification of new drug targets. Individual-gene-ranking methods ignore interactions between genes. Furthermore, popular pair-wise gene evaluation methods, e.g. TSP and TSG, are helpless for discovering pair-wise interactions. Several efforts to discover pair-wise synergy have been made...

Pair-Wise Privilege Control for Cross-Domain Private Data Sharing

Enterprise-scale organizations have large numbers of internal and external users, with different privilege requirements spanning across many resources. The dynamic nature of modern organizations demands that they efficiently and securely provision and deactivate data privileges to reflect rapidly changing user responsibilities. Previous approaches to consolidated user provisioning have focused ...

Citation success index - An intuitive pair-wise journal comparison metric

Choosing the best scientific venue for the submission of a manuscript, with the aim of maximizing the impact of the future publication, is a frequent task faced by scholars. In this paper, we show that the Impact Factor (IF) of a journal allows to rationally achieve this goal. We take advantage of a comprehensive bibliographic and citation dataset of about 2.5 million articles from 16,000 journ...

A comparison of four pair-wise sequence alignment methods

Protein sequence alignment has become an essential task in modern molecular biology research. A number of alignment techniques have been documented in literature and their corresponding tools are made available as freeware and commercial software. The choice and use of these tools for sequence alignment through the complete interpretation of alignment results is often considered non-trivial by ...
